In Due Time

Well, Tuesday the 27th was John's Due Date. I remember last summer, when I was 3 months pregnant, and on our fishing trip to Canada in memory of my dad, I caught the trip's biggest fish - a 7+ pound Northern Pike. As I held that fish I remember thinking, "this is what my baby will weigh when he is born." Well, I was off that mark by about half. But if he had been born yesterday my original estimate would have been spot on.

We weighed John last night and he came in at a whopping 7lbs and 2oz! Needless to say we are so excited and proud of our growing boy. To celebrate, I present a little photo montage with some shots requested by Nan West. Enjoy!

7 weeks on the outside

Well here we are just days away from our original parole date and I must say we are all adjusting to life on the outside just fine. John is growing more and more each day which has included a dimple on his right cheek! We even experienced our very first projectile poo at a 3am diaper change!

We love wearing our "big boy" clothes, especially this outfit from Grandma and Grandpa Partridge.

Stay tuned to this space on Tuesday the 27th because we should have some due date statistics to share!

Hope you are all well!!!

Who you callin' Preemie?

As I was dressing Not-As-Little John this morning I noticed something - his feet were about to break through the bottom of his jammies. I guess this makes senses as he gained over a half pound and grew over one inch in last week alone! So our little Grow Worm will be saying "Sayonara" to his preemie duds and "Bring it On" to his "Newborn" attire. Not too shabby to be donning the newborn duds two weeks before your due date, eh?

He's a Fiver...and some change!

Little John had another outing today to go and visit his doctor, and the good news is that he has broken the 5lb mark! Weighing in at 5lbs 2oz, Little John has basically gained a pound in just 2 weeks, which is pretty good going! Everything else seems to be looking great too, so hopefully he'll be big enough to help me finish putting up his shelves by next week!

His parents are also doing well...if a little exhausted. Having a child is definitely a test of endurance, but I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. C'mon, look at the cute little fella! :)

We would like to give a big thank you to our parents who helped us transistion into life at home with little John. We appreciate all he food, fun and festivities and the little man can't wait to see you all again soon!

He has definitely developed a good set of lungs and his screams can be heard several blocks away...but we're not complaining. That's a good thing. Nevertheless, I am still learning how to decifer each of his screams, which usually only mean one of three things: "I've just pooed myself", "Is anyone else hungry cos I am STARVING?!" or "Why is Daddy so weird?".

More to come soon!

1 month today!

That's right, little John has been kicking it on the outside for 4 solid weeks now and he is finally settled into his home here in Asheville. It took a 7 hour car trip, with regular breaks for feeding, strecthing and the obligatory baconator, but we arrived home to find that our neighbors had cleaned the place from top to bottom....so we literally walked in and passed out! Yes, we do have the most incredible neighbors on the planet, we know!

Nevertheless, it is amazing how something so small can necessitate such a large amount of "stuff". All of the Grandparents have been awesome in helping us to weed through it all and try and find a home for everything. Again, we really appreciate all of their help, and little John thoroughly enjoyed his time with them!

He is now weighing in at a colossal 4lbs 11 ounces, and the doctor says that everything is looking great! He is basically putting on over 1 ounce per day, so if he keeps gaining at that rate, he'll be a running back for Georgia before too long!

Finally, we wish you all a very Happy New Year! We can't wait to catch up with you all, and introduce you the the new Partridge!
